In 1941, at the United Gospel Tabernacle Church, Billy Graham preached his first official sermon as a seminary student attending Wheaton College. His simple message about sin and salvation he delivered with much passion would eventually be heard in crusade meetings around the globe. In 1947, Graham preached his first city-wide crusade in Grand Rapids, Michigan with around 6,000 people attending, but it was in the city of Los Angeles, CA in 1949 that catapulted his sermons to national attention. At 30 years old, over eight weeks in a huge tent at Washington Boulevard and Hill Street sum 350,000 people gathered to hear the young evangelist at the Greater Los Angeles Billy Graham Crusade. From 1947 to 2005, the Lord opened the doorway for Billy Graham to conduct 417 crusades in 185 countries and territories on six continents. From May 30 to June 3, 1973, an estimated 3.2 million people attended Billy Graham’s largest ever Crusade in Seoul, South Korea, with 1.1 million traveling—mostly by foot—to the final service on the airstrip. His text, on June 3, 1973 was from John 15:13 and he declared the final message for Korea is “Love One Another.” The message Graham delivered to the people that day is the message Christ preached to His disciples, and has been reiterating in each generation since! God is calling every believer to love one another!
