Operation Acua was a missionary outreach effort to an unreached tribe in the Ecuador jungle. After several months of exchanging gifts to the tribe, Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming and Roger Youderian established a camp called “Palm Beach” along the Curaray River on January 3, 1956. They purposed to be the first Christians to share the good news of Jesus Christ with these people. All of their efforts came to a tragic end on January 8, 1956 when all five men were speared to death. Just like the five men in Ecuador, the church of Smyrna went through much persecution for their faith. Persecution weakens false faith and strengthens true faith. Is your faith worth dying for?
